Hi all,
People often post tributes to recently deceased in the local "newspaper," including businesses, community groups, etc. I was thinking Buku-Larrnggay and all of you could contribute a very moving message together. Basically, I'd write a header along the lines of:
To the families of M. Mununggurr,
Buku-Larrnggay Mulka would like to pass on the condolences of just a handful of the many didjeridu players around the world who have been inspired by this man who has left us way too soon.
Randin Graves, Yirrkala, NT, Australia
John MacDonald, Daegerlen, Switzerland
Warner Recabaren, San Diego, California, USA
etc. etc.
I imagine we could get a list that's longer than the whole paper is normally!
I'll try to include everyone who's emailed or posted on this forum, but if you'd like, resend your full name and location to us with the subject header "tribute" via the form at
http://www.yirrkala.com/yidaki/contact.html
Spread the word! BUT - the DEADLINE is the end of the day, Tuesday 24 July. Don't let this be one of those endless email forwards, but let's keep the deadline, folks!
We could also pass it on to the memorial service, where they often read letters from well wishers. I assume they'd just say, "ummm... there's 200 names here" rather than read them all, but it'd still get the point across!
